Quick Glimps, tapping and scary shadows :(

This happened yesterday but I'm finally getting around to blogging about it because I wanted to see if I could debunk my experience. So far I haven't been able to.

I was in my kitchen. It was around 1 in the afternoon. I had laid Justin down for his nap around 12 so I was enjoying some downtime. I got hungry so I decided to make some potato soup. I walked over to the stove to stir the soup. Out of the corner of my eye in the dining room near the window I saw some kind of light or something. Kind of like as if a car drove by and the sun bounced off it and caused a reflection. That would be a great explanation except the blinds were down and the light/reflection was on the wall that the window was on. If a car had come by the light/reflection would of been on the wall facing the window. It couldn't have come from the backyard because there are no reflective surfaces back there.

It was about as tall as I am(I'm 5'2). maybe a inch or so smaller. And it was only half of an apparition.

Right after I saw this, I walked over into my dining room and looked around and looked out the blinds. I then went back to the kitchen. I said out loud "Charlie, I'm pretty sure I just saw you. Stop hiding." Yes, it sounds silly but ghosts are people, too. Just people you cannot see. I've already laid the law down with Charlie. No messing with my babies, no going upstairs to the bedroom area, etc...

Well, I don't know about the bedroom rule. The other night something happened that scared me pretty bad. Which doesn't happen often but O.M.G. It made me sit straight up in bed and I did not sleep well after.

We had gone to bed around 11 on Monday night. I'm always the last to fall asleep after nursing Justin and putting him back into bed and then getting settled myself. I had laid my head down and closed my eyes. I don't know why I opened them again but I did and when I did I saw a large dark mass coming quickly towards me from the bedroom door. At first I thought it was Jade coming into my room with her blanket over her head and my eyes hadn't adjusted yet but when it hit me that it wasn't her and that it was just a black mass I sat straight up and it was gone. My heart was racing and I started to sweat a little. The last time I had ever experienced anything like that was in the NC home when I had my panic attack. The dark shadow moving down the hallway towards me. It happened within a matter of seconds and was gone as quickly as it came.

Honestly, I don't know what it was. I don't want to know what it was and I NEVER, EVER want to see it again! I have chills and tears in my eyes even blogging about this. I haven't told Cliff even about this because I don't need him to freak out since he is up really early and by himself in the morning.

Tomorrow I will be picking up some Raphael the Archangel and St. Christopher pendants for us to keep in our bedrooms and on us. I'm not fully convinced that this entity is fully harmless and after the other night, its left me questioning it even more. I'm scared now. I didn't feel that before. I felt safe. What I saw the other night was not nice.

The tapping, that comes from the master bathroom window which is on the 2nd level(3rd if you include the basement). There are no trees that can hit the window. The tree that is below our bathroom window is 8 feet tall but comes NO WHERE near our bathroom window. Cliff heard it before me one night while we were laying in bed. I was almost asleep when I felt him pick his head up off the pillow(I'm a light sleeper). He asked me "did you hear that?" and I said "no, what?"... he said he heard something. We kind of shrugged it off. I laid there trying to get back to sleep. He can fall asleep within seconds, I'm not so lucky lol so as I lay there I heard 3 taps then some creaking. I shut myself down to sound and went to sleep.

A few nights later, it happened again. 3 taps, same bathroom, 2 times. My reaction: sleep. What?? Its my cooping mechanism!! Would YOU want to stay awake? LOL Didnt think so.

So there you have it kids. It was so quiet here for a few weeks. Then like always, activity starts up and gives me a full dose of scare.

The Groan

Cliff and I were in the basement watching TV. Okay wait, he was actually asleep on the couch and I was watching TV. I had gotten up to go get a drink and use the bathroom upstairs when I heard him call for me. I asked what and he didnt respond so I asked what again and still no response. He does this all the time and I get aggravated so I walked back down the stairs and he is sitting up looking around. He asked me if I had heard it. I asked him what and he said something groaned in his ear. So I looked around the couch for any toys or to see if Justins baby monitor was on. Couldnt find anything.

He was kinda freaked out after that. I still had to pee so he has to suffer being alone for a few minnutes.

Lately, I have been seeing things out of the corner of my eye.

And honestly, I keep feeling something here. I cant pin point it as far as adult or child. But its male. It feels young but at times it feels older, too. I dont want to invite it in. I dont want to explore or try and figure it out and open pandoras box. Im afraid to do that. Im not comfortable enough with my own ability to feel these things and dig deeper.

I need to get to the library and do some research on the area and property. Maybe today is as good a day as any.

Past and Present experiences...

So, I figure with all the paranormal stuff going on around me, I need to start logging all events and putting our paranormal history down so that we can look back on it. I wont go into my childhood events since I cant really remember them. Cliff cant remember anything happeneing to him as a kid.

Just going to go into the more recent ones in the last 10 years.

Hubert, North Carolina: 2001 - 2003

We bought a cute 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom duplex out in Hubert. Its an area close to the back gate of Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base that was under new construction and the house was about a year old. We were newlyweds and just starting our life together after moving from California. Everything was great. We got a little pug, found out we were going to have a baby... life was good.

Sadly, the pug passed away a few months after we got her during the summer without warning. We had put her outside to run around for about a half hour and when I went back to get her she was laying on the floor dead. We dont know if it was a snake or fire ants or even a medical condition that got to her but we buried her in the backyard. Nothing paranormal about her death but at night when we would crawl into bed and turn the lights out, we swore we felt something at the foot of our bed. Like something had jumped onto the bed and curled up at our feet.

We had our first Christmas come. Our tree was up and we were just relaxing after a long day. I was in the back bedroom folding laundry with my cat 'lady' asleep next to me. My husband was in the livingroom watching TV when he called for me. I walked into the livingroom and asked him what he needed and he looked at me and asked "where is the cat?". I let him know that she was in the back room with me asleep. He asked me if I was sure and I said yes. I asked him why and he said that he saw the Christmas tree shake and thought maybe she had gotten into it. We passed it off as nothing and went on with our routine.

Something didnt feel right with the house after a while. It felt dark and uncomfortable to me. The cat was always looking down the hallway into the darkness of the back bedroom or stareing into corners and at the walls. She would come out of the back room with her fur standing up like she had been spooked.

I had a hard time showering in the master bathroom. I always got the feeling someone was standing in the bathroom. Id constantly peek my head out of the shower to see if someone was there and no one would be but I could feel someone there. It felt heavy. Made me very uncomfortable.

Shadows started to appear in the hallway. I refused to go into the backroom  when I was home alone during the day so I camped out in the living room til Cliff got home from work. I remember one night after we had gotten home from a trip to see his family in New Jersey, we were laying in bed..  I slept on the side of the bed that faced the door if I was to lay on my right side. I knew something was there... the minute Cliff turned the light off a black mass begun to move in the hallway. I begged him to turn the lights back on and began to cry so hard it sent me into a panic attack. I curled into a ball and just cried. My poor husband didnt know what to do. He started calling the nurse line to see if they could help. It was my first panic attack with him around. I felt so bad the next day but whatever was in that hallway scared the living daylights out of me. Ill never forget it.

We had my sister who was 17 at the time, come out from California to stay with us for a little while. 9/11 had occured 3 months prior and there was talk about Cliff getting deployed and I was 8 months pregnant at the time. She stayed with us maybe 2 weeks then asked to go back home. She came to visit us in July of 2009 and we were up late having one of our pointless conversations when the convo got directed to the house in NC. She told me that she had seen a black shadow in the guest room(which we made her room at the time) but never said anything to me. She said it felt evil and it felt like it was just stareing at her. I never told her about what I saw and experienced in NC until that night. I was so relieved. I didnt feel like I was the only one.

Cliff left the Marine Corps in August of 2003. He got a job in Maryland and we moved. We kept the NC house and used it as a rental property.

Germantown, Maryland: 2003 - 2005

We moved from NC to MD and got an apartment. Simple 2 bed, 2 bath place. 3rd/top floor. Nice area. Nothing much happened there for the first year until after I had my daughter.

I got pregnant with my daughter in Novemeber of 2003 and had her in August of 2004. She was about a month old and my son was around 3 1/2 years old. It was early in the afternoon and I was exhausted so I decided it was time to lay them both down for a nap. We had a queen size bed then so I was able to put Robbie on the left side of the bed, Jade in the middle and me on the right side. We all fell asleep. I dont know how long I had been sleeping for but I was awoken to what felt like someone smacking/slapping me on the side of the face. It startled me. I looked around to see if maybe one of the kids had accidently hit me but Robbie was still asleep on his side and Jade was not strong enough to hit me with the force that I felt. I went to look around the apartment and found nothing.

That was the only inccident there. We moved to Virginia in 2005 for a new job position.

Woodbridge, VA: 2005 - 2007

We moved into another apartment. New complex. Just built.

No major inccidents. Just a radio turning itself on once.

We moved again in 2007.

Springfield, VA: 2007 - 2009

We moved into a townhouse in a cute little neighborhood. It was a 3 bed, 2 full/2 half bath, 3 level home built about 20 years ago.

The first to notice any activity were my kids. The basement was a finished basement so we made it their playroom and TV/family room, so they were down there a lot. Robbie would tell me about a 'white cat' that he saw on a few occassions. We do have a cat, but she is grey/black. And at the time that Robbie was seeing this 'white cat', our cat was missing. She had run away 3 days after we had moved into the townhouse and we didnt find her til 7 months later. Alive.

So, moving on... Me and Cliff were sitting on the couch in the basement watching a show. It was late and the kids were in bed. Out of the corner of my eye I see a small shadow in the hallway. I didnt say anything or look in that direction but I did notice Cliff looking over when I looked at him to see if he had seen anything. I asked him what was wrong and he kinda just shook his head and said he thought he saw something. I asked him where he saw it and we both saw this shadow in the same spot that we swore looked like a cat. It wasnt enough to scare up but it did get our attention.

Another time we were down in the basement watching TV and Cliff was laying in my lap falling asleep. It was late once again and the kids had been in bed for about an hour. I was watching one of my favorite Friday night shows called "Most Haunted" when I heard what sounded like one of the kids coming down the basement stairs. I turned the volume down and called out my daughters name because she had a habit of waking up and coming to find us. I got no response. I called her name again and got nothing... the third time I called her I got Cliffs attention and he sat up and I told him I heard someone coming down the stairs but no one was answering. We both got up and went into the hall to look up the stairs and no one was there... We hurried up to the kids bedrooms to make sure they were okay and they were passed out sleeping in their beds.

The shadows started coming more often at night. The basement became a place no one wanted to hang out in. Basements are always odd to begin with. I started seeing shadows in the hallway on the 3rd floor when we were in bed. I never said anything. Was better that I didnt. I didnt want to scare my kids.

I didnt think it affected my kids as much as it did. Robbie was afraid of the basement after a while. He never had any issues with it before but as the months went by he wouldnt go down there alone.

I think the last straw for me was in September of 2009. We had finally bought a house and were moving at the end of the month. It was about 10 at night. Robbie was fast asleep, Cliff was in the bedroom with Justin and I was in Jades bedroom with her packing some boxes up. I was sitting on the floor with my back to her door and she was in front of me looking towards the door. She stopped for a second and then said "Mom! I just saw a boy run from Robbas(her nickname for Robbie) room in the hall." We both got up and looked into the hallway to see if maybe Robbie had gotten up to use the bathroom or something but he was still fast asleep in his bed. I asked her 1 or 2 questions about it and let it go. I didnt want to feed her imagination or alter her memory about it with my own suggestions. I havent brought it up since.

That was it for that place. I was so glad to get out of there.

Stafford, VA: 2009 - Present ('Charlie' the ghost)

We moved into our new home on October 3rd 2009. Its a 3 bed, 2 full/2 half bath, 3 lvl single family home built in 1998. Its our dream home. We saw this place the first time and knew it was the one. It felt right.

Two weeks into living here I had my first experience.

I had cleaned up the basement(which is the kids playroom/family area) after the kids had gone to bed. I have a little table down there in which I placed two toys on top laying sideways. The next morning I took the kids to school and came home. My husband was still here getting ready for work. I went back into the basement to finish cleaning up and looked over to the table. The two toys I had set on them were no longer on it but Proped up against it. Side by side.

My kids had not been down there that morning. I knew something was up.

December came and I was getting things decorated for Christmas. I was up in the living room putting things out when I heard a weird sound coming from the basement. I went to investigate and as I walked into the office area the sound I heard was coming from the bathroom. The cold water faucet had been turned all the way on. My two cats were upstairs with me basking in the sun on the couch so niether one of them could of done it. I was home alone with my baby who was upstairs sleeping. I was a little freaked out to say the least.

I had my sons 1st birthday party on December 6th. I had a group of friends over and we were all gathered around my kitchen table talking. One of my friends stops and goes "Who just flushed the toilet?".. I have a half bath that is in the entryway hall that everyone uses. No one was seen going in or coming out of that bathroom before or after it flushed. So there were at least 6 witnesses to that inccident.

The day after Christmas my mother in law was visiting. Cliff had gone into the basement to find the same water faucet on and the sink filling up with water. We shut the valve off. Dont need the basement flooding in the middle of the night.

That same day my mother in law went up to use the entryhall bathroom. We heard her say "HEY!" and then shout down to us that the light had shut off on her. We laughed about it and told her weird stuff was happeneing around the house.

Fast forward to this morning. I was in a rush to get my kids out the door because we were late for school. I ran downstairs and shut all the lights off and went into the kitchen to grab my baby. My oldest was standing by the front door and I heard him call to me and ask me if the cats had turned the hall light upstairs on. I told him that they were in the basement and that cats couldnt turn lights on anyway.. Thats when he said "Well, the hall light went on and I didnt do it!" Sure enough, when I went to check it out the hall light to the top floor was on. He said it was off and then he heard a "pop" and it went on. The pop was the light switch being flicked up/down to turn it on. He and I both laughed and he said "maybe casper did it mom". I laughed and told him that maybe he was right. I dont want to make it a serious thing with them and scare them so I laugh with them.

I got home and told 'Charlie' that he cant be turning things on and off around here and running up electric and water bills.

It sounds silly I know but if you cant beat them, you gotta learn to live with them.

So thats it. From then til now.

Cant wait to log more in.

But I want to make one thing clear, I have NOT asked for anything to come into my home. I do NOT play with boards or devices that try and contact spirits and such. I just let whatever it is that is here know that this is my house and I lay down my rules. So far, so good.
